How much does it cost?

Joining the Living Active program is FREE! The only cost associated with the program is the entry fee for events.

Who does the Living Active Program cater for?

The Living Active Program caters for anyone who would like to be more active and enjoys exercising with other people.

There are no age or fitness level restrictions for joining. In fact, we would love to see people who are not exceptionally fit joining so that we can share their Living Active journey with them!

Competitive athletes are more than welcome to join us but should be aware that the focus of this group is participation and regular exercise rather than intense, high-performance training. However, setting goals and achieving PB’s is certainly encouraged!

Are training sessions compulsory?

Training sessions are completely optional (although we would love to see you there!). We only ask that if you intend to come to a session, please confirm your attendance prior to coming. Details of upcoming training sessions will be posted on our facebook page.

Where are you located?

We are located in Croydon, Victoria and all training sessions will be around this area. Training session times and locations will be posted on our facebook page and monthly newsletters.

Where are the events?

The events we participate in are located around Melbourne. We are focussing on big events which are usually inner-city, but some events (i.e open water swims) may be down the coast.

Which events do you participate in?

Due to the planning involved in organising a team for an event, we confirm our participation in an event 2 months prior to the actual event. All the events that we have confirmed will be posted on our facebook page and monthly newsletters.

The events we target are large events with 1000’s of people participating. The energy and atmosphere at these events is contagious and inspiring – and will certainly motivate you to sign up for your next event!

Examples of events we may enter are:

  • Melbourne Marathon
  • Relay for Life
  • Round the Bay Cycle
  • Triathlons
  • Pier to Pub swim

I have never done an event before. How do I prepare/ train for an event?

Firstly, make sure the event is suitable to you. If you have never run more than 5km before, there is no point attempting a half marathon with only 2 months preparation! Speak to one of the Healing Hands Osteopaths if you are uncertain what is suitable.

Next, plan a regular exercise schedule leading up to the event. Consistency is the most important part of training – there is no benefit in exercising 7 days in a row and then having the next 2 weeks off! Ideally, you will be exercising 3-4 times per week, every week. For more detailed planning, come down to an exercise session and/ or make a time with one of the Healing Hands Osteopaths.

As mentioned previously, we are also offering a free weekly exercise session which will be focussed on the upcoming event. This is a great opportunity to get some tips and advice about training for an event, and make sure you are on track to achieve your goal! Details of upcoming training sessions will be posted on our facebook page.

What if I am unfit? Can I still join in?

If you are unfit and WANT to join, this program was MADE for you! We passionately believe that Living Active is the best way to get the most out of life, and we would love to be a part of your journey!

If you are unsure about what would be a suitable event to aim for, come down to an exercise session or get in touch with one of the Healing Hands Osteopaths and they will help you get the ball rolling!

What if I am unable to finish an event? 

The events we will be doing are very well organised and have more than adequate first aid staff and contingencies in place for people that are unable to continue.

One of the benefits of doing an event in a team is that you will have other Living Active friends out on course with you, cheering you on, supporting you along the way, and giving you a hand if you need it! This support is priceless and will usually get you over the line.

However, if you have been exercising regularly and coming to Living Active training sessions, it is highly unlikely that you will be unable to complete an event.

But what if disaster strikes and you really are unable to finish an event? That will become your motivation to train harder and sign up for another event to make up for the one that got the better of you!

What if I’m not ready to commit to an event? Can I still come along to training sessions?

Regardless if you have signed up for an event, you are more than welcome to come along to training sessions!

Our dream is motivating people to achieve their goals and to embrace the Living Active lifestyle.

We suggest you commit to an event so that you hold yourself accountable and stay motivated. Training towards a goal or event is much easier than training just for the sake of training!

But our focus is on getting people moving and Living Active. So if the thought of exercising regularly in a relaxed, fun, encouraging environment excites you, we would love to see you at a training session!

Osteopath Pricing:

Initial Consultation $100 (allow 60 mins)
Regular Consultation $80 (30 mins)
Extended Consultation $100 (45 mins)

We allow up to an hour for an initial consultation while our regular consultations last for 30 minutes. No referral is required.

* We offer Eftpos and HICAPS facilities, which allows you to claim your private healthcare rebate on the spot.

* If your GP has put you on an Enhanced Primary Care plan (EPC), you may be eligible to have some of your treatments covered by Medicare. If you are unsure, speak to your GP or call us today.
