Paediatric Osteopathy
Book OnlineGentle care for growing bodies.
At Healing Hands, we offer compassionate and skilled osteopathic care for babies and young children. Paediatric osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on approach that supports your child’s development and helps address common issues that can arise in the early stages of life.
Our osteopaths are trained to assess and treat infants using techniques tailored to the delicate structures of a baby’s body. We work in collaboration with parents, midwives, lactation consultants, and other health professionals to ensure your child receives the best possible care.
Common Reasons to See a Paediatric Osteopath:
Feeding or Latching Difficulties
Some babies struggle to latch or feed effectively, which can be linked to tension or imbalance in the neck, jaw, or cranial bones. Osteopathic treatment may help restore balance and improve function, supporting more comfortable feeding for both baby and parent.
Plagiocephaly (Flat Head Syndrome)
Plagiocephaly can develop when babies favour one head position. Gentle osteopathic techniques aim to improve neck mobility and relieve tension, allowing for more symmetrical head shape development.
Side Preference or Limited Neck Movement
If your baby consistently turns their head to one side or seems uncomfortable when turning the other way, osteopathy may help release restrictions and promote better range of motion.
Oral Ties (Tongue Tie, Lip Tie)
Oral ties can affect feeding and oral development. Osteopathy can help relieve related muscle and tissue tension, and is often used alongside other treatments or procedures for optimal outcomes.
Birth Trauma
Even a smooth birth can place pressure on a baby’s body. Difficult or assisted births (e.g., forceps, vacuum, or emergency C-section) can lead to strain or tension that osteopathy may help address.
Digestive Distress (Wind, Reflux, Constipation)
Osteopathic treatment can support the function of the digestive system by addressing tension or restrictions in the body that may be contributing to discomfort or unsettled behaviour.

A Gentle Approach You Can Trust
Paediatric osteopathy is always performed with the utmost care, using soft, non-invasive techniques. Every child is different, and our approach is tailored to their unique needs.
If you’re unsure whether osteopathy is right for your child, we’re happy to answer your questions and guide you through the process. We’re here to support your family through these important early stages.
